  1. I suggest we give it a week to confirm interest and see if we can get TMG or others to join us to. We can then publish a fixture list with one post per week for the games and results. We should all be able to modify the same post to update score and the league table.

    Any other thoughts or ideas?

Suggestions for the All Star Game and league start date?

  2. I wonder if the guys over at The Total Gamer would be interested also, there's guys from the old gamers garage like Okatta and guys from Gaming Unlimited like Kid and Spy.

  3. Yes. Why not. As long as they can play in the spirit of the league.

  5. Ahah I'm here! Right how are we gonna organise this thing then ?

  6. Just getting a feel for the place.

Nice one on the set up Xan :)

  7. Well done Xan, Come on you Crankies!!

  8. Yes, and theres a great deal of interest too which is awesome! :)

  9. For CGUK I think you guys need to think about getting two teams set-up. Maybe two "captains" to get a team together each week.

We can also take a week or so to see if any other communities are interested in joining.

  10. Good stuff guys, I like the naming teams idea.

  11. Xan, i'd love to captain one of the CGUK teams

  13. When we did the league before, some teams had "resident" capts. Others, like the NFP, had a different one every week. I think it's basically up to you and the CGUK community to work out the best way to do it. As you are already a party organiser, it makes sense to me that you be el capitan :).

  14. I am hoping the Bluebloods join in. They are long standing friends of the NFP and have played in previous leagues.

  15. I think we need to discuss how the captaincy for the CGUK teams will work Meh, I like the idea of a "floating" captaincy.

Perhaps we should take that over the CGUK forums to organise as it is really up to the community to decide.

After all, this will only work with their participation. Besides which, we have a couple of weeks to play with.

I would also like to see Backfired invited as a league moderator to share some of the CGUK responsibilities. I know that would give us an extra man but I'm happy to share my role 50/50 with him.

I feel he should be involved as he has been an awesome game night host for far longer than I have on the CGUK boards. :-)

  16. I'm happy to add Backfired to the mod team as you'll have 2 teams and I see CGUK as the main "sponsor"

  17. Thanks Nory for the good word, happy to be part of this.

In terms of the cguk captaincy I would like to see "normal" members of the community get the oppotunity rather than it always being us. A new captain each match would be good. I think it would give them a better sense of involvement.

  18. One thing we will all need to think about will be the All Star match. It's basically an "all for one" match, rather than a "team vs" with final positions resulting in points for their teams.

In the past league Halo and PGR have been played.

    Any suggestions?

  20. I have an idea for the 'All Star' match, each team choose 2 MVP's from the team. Then set up a game of Wigman on GOW2 where its 2 a side and you can have 5 teams ( which we currently have in the league) and they battle it out on there with a series of games?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like that idea. Even if we have more teams join, we could do something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd like to get the ball rolling by challenging the NFP to a game of social slayer Halo (4 vs 4). I'm thinking getting 4 halo owning folks together should be fairly easy.

    Is that ok? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes. There will be no problem with that I'm sure. I'll post it on our forum.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Would CGUK & S4G like to update their About Us details? http://unitedgamersleague.blogspot.com/search/label/AboutUs

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks to MagicMuffinMan for the banner

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lol. Pardon me for being a total numpty, but how do we edit the about us details?

    ReplyDelete
  27. What an awesome banner!!!

    Good job.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hmm. More numptyness ahead, how do I change the team names?

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you are logged into blogger you should be able to click on the pencil at the bottom of each post. That will bring up a WYSIWYG editor.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can't see any pencils anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Please note. Now we have six teams I have dropped the ALL STAR match to one player per community team.

    ReplyDelete
  32. League table added to blog side bar.

@Mods To edit: click on the toolbox icon below the table, then click on "Rich Text".

    ReplyDelete
  33. Can we change the Halo match to 5 vs 5 social slayer? We have had a good few sign ups. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes. Fine. You might have to lend us a player if we struggle for five.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No problem, at this rate we could give you a couple. :-)

    Halo seems popular. Who knew?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Revised the fixture list with the new dual group format and playoffs. This will keep the league to the original 6 weeks.

  37. Hello all...

Well this looks like a splendid idea and well organised.

I am from the MUPPETS WITH GUNS a new and upcoming clan who are about 6 months old.
We have a friendly bunch of members and enjoy playing with other (Friendly) clans and lets be honest its not always easy finding friendly clans.

Not sure if their still room but the MWG are very interested in this.
We can also maybe drag 1-2 clans we know into this that are also friendly and ask them to sign up but thats if you need anymore teams.

Anyway I'll check back later hope to speak to some of you more soon.

    ReplyDelete
  38. We can probably accommodate one more team, such as yourselves. I should point out that this is not a competitive clan league but a friendly tournament between various community websites. Win lose or draw. It won't matter. Please refer to the FAQs for more information. If you are still up for it then email me with two of your teams contact details (XBL or PSN tags) plus the URL of your forum and I'll add you to the league.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mods: The question has been raised "what happens when the two teams can't decide on a game to play, especially towards the last games?'.

The tournament is only for fun so I would hope that the two teams could work it out themselves.

If the worst did happen my suggestion would be for the two teams to suggest the games they can play, and then an independent moderator should draw it out of a hat (http://www.random.org/lists).

    Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  40. no point worrying about it unless it happens i reckon. as you say it's just for fun and we're all adults. i know from the pftp league we never had any problems arranging any of the matches, in fact i was quite pleasantly surprised how easy everybody made everything.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey chaps, I gather we're still using the comments to arrange fixtures? I have a mild phobia of signing up to new forums. I'd like to challenge the bluebloods to a game of Gears 2 for week 2 on the 17/02/2009 if that's ok?

    ReplyDelete
  42. hi i think we may be interested @ ALC
